Auto Repair Roberts WI | Preventative Maintenance Tasks (Part 2)

Auto Repair Roberts WI

Maintaining your vehicle is an important part of being a responsible automobile owner. Part 1 of this blog series noted that checking your fluids, getting car washes, and getting regular oil changes are all good ways to maintain your vehicle. Here are a few more ways to help ensure your vehicle is properly maintained:

Routine Tire Maintenance

Your tires bear the load of your entire vehicle, so it’s crucial to take care of your tires with routine maintenance. Your local auto shop has wheel alignment, tire balancing, and tire rotation services that help ensure the safe operation of your vehicle. You need your tires balanced and rotated to promote even tread wear. Unbalanced tires can lead to uneven wear, vehicle vibration, and unsafe performance. Similarly, not rotating your tires regularly can result in poor performance, bad fuel efficiency, reduce the lifespan of the tires, and lead to safety issues while driving.

It’s also important to check your tire pressure regularly to ensure your tires are at the proper PSI. You can find your vehicle’s recommended PSI in your door jamb. Not having properly inflated tires can also lead to uneven tread wear and even cause flat tires or tire blowouts. Your tires may also become warped due to the pressure on the underinflated tires, resulting in dangerous driving. If you notice your Check Engine Light or your TPMS light is on, check the air pressure in your tires promptly and inflate them to the recommended PSI, or take your vehicle to your local tire shop right away.

Inspect And/Or Replace Filters

A clogged or dirty air filter will cause your automobile’s engine to work a lot harder than it actually needs to. Keeping your filters clean is important to prevent dirty smoke, your Check Engine Light coming on, loss of power, and engine failure. Contact your local auto repair shop to inspect or change your filter to prevent expensive vehicle issues.

Inspect And/Or Replace Brake Pads

Checking your brake pads is an important aspect of vehicle maintenance. Ensure the safety of your vehicle (as well as you and your passengers) by checking your brake pads for signs of wear by looking through the wheel’s spokes. Your driving habits may also influence how often you need to change your brake pads. If your brake pads are too thin, generally there should be at least ¼ inch of brake pad, you need to replace your brake pads. Contact your local auto repair shop to replace your brake pads or for brake repair services to ensure your brakes are able to keep you and your passengers safe.

It’s always a good idea to take your vehicle to the professionals for preventative maintenance services.
